If you were going to be away from your family for 4 days, how would you feel? JV head coach for boys basketball coach Brandon Staton, varsity assistant coach, coach William Morton, and twelve grader Ra’shawn Burrell talked a little on their thoughts.
“It's been a lot of work with all the fundraising to the part of making sure we are all prepared on and off the court to go but after all that’s done I’m excited for many reasons. The main reason, yes to play basketball. The second, for a lot of the guys on the team this is the first time not just going to Hawaii, but going on a plane or being away from their families” said, coach Morton
The main plan for Hawaii is to win the games they have and to have fun after business is taken care of they all said.
‘’I feel good, I feel like this trip is going to be a lot of fun with my guys and it's like a family trip but its also to get business done” said Burrell
Enjoying Hawaii is also something fun that the team gets to do together because as they all say they are more than just a team they are family.
As coach Morton said most of the guys in the team have never been to Hawaii, for example, Burrell has never been there he thinks it might be a lot of fun, especially because he is going with all his friends.
‘I've never been on a plane” Burrell said. That leads to him talking about how he’s feeling about flying to Hawaii.
As the coaches prepare the team for their games they also have many thought on the trip overall.
Both coach Morton and Staton feel like the boys are ready. They are confident that they are gonna give it there all.
“I feel great about it I think its a great opportunity for our guys they get to get out of Hesperia and have a little fun in Hawaii but honestly its a business trip we’re going out there and coming back with you know not one loss we’re going out there to win every game that we play in and basically put Hesperia on the map” coach Staton said.
